Every year the company my husband works for sponsors a zoo day. It is always in the fall and always on a Sunday afternoon. We have gone every year since he started his architecture job 10 years ago.
These are the only pictures I could find our past zoo trips. How sad. It was the first year we had our first professional camera and the first year we started learning how to use it. The previous year I think is the only year we missed going because I was VERY pregnant with him and not feeling well. I had him a few weeks after that zoo day. I guess after that we just got too busy to take a lot of pictures the more kids we had.
I loved Ethan at this stage... unfortunately I thought it would be a good idea to shave his head, but regretted it later. His eyes were still blue at this point but soon started to change to a hazel color instead. I wish I would have had a closer up picture of his eyes.
Fast forward 8 years... to this fall! I had actually left the camera in the car because I had a migraine for a few days before. We were walking around and I was noticing how cute they all were being and well behaved too! I took some pain medicine and had some more caffeine and my migraine started to go away! I was so happy about that. We were already at the back of the zoo by this time, but I decided to walk out to the car and get the camera. That is my goal this year after all and I am sticking too it! I am so glad I did...
After going to the car, I finally found them after getting lost for a little bit... I am terrible at directions!
I guess I should have used the map better like they did. A friendly zoo worker helped me find my way! Ethan wanted to push Nora in the stroller, but ended up pushing the drinks instead!
Nora would rather have her Daddy carry her or wanted to walk around by herself... Her favorite phrase is, "I do it myself, Mommy!!" We still have the same stroller from when Ethan was a baby. I think this is the first year since Ethan was born that I haven't been pregnant or had a new baby to push around. Sadly, I realized this might be the last time we need a stroller at the zoo! I may have teared up when I realized that. The end of an era I suppose, and on to a new chapter of bigger kids and no babies.
We took the obligatory picture with the statue,
and then Nora pretended the tiger was biting her! "Mom! It bite me! OW OW OW!" She would say. It was so cute, she acted like her hand was really stuck in the tiger's mouth.
The kids LOVED the tigers...
Especially Kien, which I thought was fun since he was born in the year of the tiger!
Kaia's getting to the age where if she sees me with the camera, she automatically poses like this. :0
I saw these two cuties up on the tall stones...
So I decided to try to get them all in the picture but Ethan accidentally stepped on Nora's fingers and that was the end of that.
Kien absolutely LOVED the zoo, and wants to go back with just me sometime for his special day. We didn't have enough time to see nearly all of the animals that he wanted to see.
This is how Kien posed when he saw me with the camera. Silly boy!
I made my husband take a picture of me and the kids even though I had no make-up and look terribly pale from not feeling good that day, it's still a memory and I want them to remember me being there with them when they look back on these pictures someday. Note to self... always bring the camer!
