My husband sometimes goes to play tennis until late in the evening so I look for things to keep the kids entertained while he is gone. We were having reading time in the kitchen and Kaia asked if she could color in her book! Of course I said no. I asked her why she wanted to and she said that she loved the drawings in it. So did I! They looked like my style of drawing. I saw why she wanted to color in the book because the pictures looked like coloring book pages. Then I had an idea! I said, "What if I draw you that picture and then you can color it?" I got out some paper and my favorite slim line sharpie pen and started drawing. I realized I hadn't drawn anything in over 10 years and I used to draw daily. So sad. I may have to change that soon.
We kept Nora busy with stickers and some paper.
Then the kids, instead of coloring the pictures I drew, wanted to draw their own too! I even let them use my sharpie pens.
THis little guy fell asleep on the floor so he didn't join in the fun, but he did look extremely cute sleeping there...
This type of thing is right up Kaia's alley, and Ethan was loving it too!
The kids have been told that I used to draw but have never seen me in action! I think they were a bit impressed. :)
I was actually pretty impressed with what they drew... I mean, how adorable is that tin man?!
And the cowardly lion is pretty awesome too I have to say.
Then they decided to sign their work like a true artist does.
It melts me to see their cute little handwritten names! We are going definately going to have to do fun projects like this more often! I do love how this particular one wasn't planned, it just turned into spontaneous inspiration and creativity! So fun!
