I found a great space to shoot newborn pictures since it is not always perfect weather to do them outside... I have several different places that I could eventually put a studio in our house but they all require a remodel and time... and being that we finally finished our kitchen remodel... (I will post about that sometime soon.) we are just not ready to jump into another big project quite yet. In the mean time, I have had several babies waiting to get their milestone pictures taken... and no where to take them because it has been so cold lately. Then one day my parents suggested I use their house! At first I wasn't so sure, but then I decided to try the space out. They live in a large Victorian house in town and they had a spare bedroom, that was too small to really be a bedroom, but it had an awesome big window in it. I had never thought to use it before because I thought anywhere I went I would have to have space for my big studio lights. It just so happens that window light is even better! I wanted to try out the space before I had an actual customer in it so I did a facebook contest and chose two winners at random! This beautiful little baby girl and there was the first one to make it into the new space. The space is a bit small, but it does the job, and for now that is all I need for now.
She was a bit fussy throughout the shoot, and I told her Mama she was probably having a 3 week growth spurt. And then we started talking about breastfeeding and she sadly said that she was having a few issues. I told her I just happened to have a Mom downstairs that has been a La Leche League leader (a support group for breastfeeding and expectant moms who would like more information on breastfeeding) for over 30 years... I asked her if she wanted my Mom to come up and see if she could help in any way, and she said yes! SO... I went downstairs and got my Mom who was helping my Dad watch the kids downstairs... (another great benefit of having the studio there! Built in babysitting for my kids! :))
We worked together and made some suggestions to as what may help her particular situation. Soon she was breastfeeding like a pro and had a lot more confidence! It made me so happy that we could help her out.
She was so comfortable she even asked me if I would take some pictures of her nursing her baby... So sweet... She looks like she could be on a breastfeeding magazine cover, don't you think?!
The baby seemed to be pretty happy about it too! Just look at that sleepy smile!
We finally got her into a deep enough sleep to get some fun pics... Can you believe her Grandma made that hat? So cute! I may have to hit her up for some in the future.
I'd say the studio session and impromptu La Leche League mini meeting were a success! Happy baby, happy Mama!
